Doritos Crash the Super Bowl 50 Ad Voting Started

Today, PepsiCo's Doritos brand has announced the three finalists in the Doritos Crash the Super Bowl competition.
One of these three homemade will be the Doritos superbowl commercial 2016.

They are now set to compete for public votes in the last ever Crash the Super Bowl consumer-created advertising contest.

The three Doritos Crash the Super Bowl 2016 finalists ads are (in alphabetical order by creator last name):

Ultrasound by Peter Carstairs, Australia,
Doritos Dogs by Jacob Chase, USA,
Swipe for Doritos by David Rudy, USA.

The Ultrasound commercial is the most controversial from the three. It shows a baby in a womb reacting to a Doritos moved around by his dad. It definitely is Super Bowl material. Swipe for Doritos is a play on Tinder, which is fun and hits the zeitgeist. The third ad relies not on just one dog, but three, which could give this Doritos finalist the edge.



The three finalists will be competing for getting their commercial aired during the Super Bowl 50 broadcast. The winner also gets a cool $1 million and an opportunity to collaborate with director Zack Snyder while working with Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Entertainment. Snyder is the director of the much-anticipated "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice," set for release March 25, 2016, which marks the first time the two iconic Super Heroes will share the big screen.

Doritos will award the two finalists whose ads don't air during the Big Game each with a $100,000 cash prize, plus a guaranteed creative gig with the Doritos brand.
These three finalists have been selected from nearly 4,500 submissions representing 28 countries globally.

"The majority of people who enter Crash the Super Bowl have similar dreams of building a career in the entertainment industry and hope to use the contest as a stepping stone," said Jeff Klein, vice president of marketing, Frito-Lay.  "So we thought for our last 'Crash,' less finalists was more. It's the chance to laser-focus the spotlight on the very best of the best, and ensures all of our finalists walk away with truly life-changing opportunities."
Now through Jan. 31, 2016, fans can vote for the best of the three finalist commercials on the Doritos site.

The winning ad selected by fan votes will air during the Super Bowl 50 broadcast on CBS on February 7, 2016.

 As a nod to the fans who helped make Crash the Super Bowl such a phenomenal success, and in celebration of the Doritos brand's 50th anniversary in 2016, U.S. consumers who vote online using codes from specially marked Doritos products will be entered for the chance to win tickets to Super Bowl 50 and other golden prizes.
The three finalists will be invited to attend Super Bowl 50 in the San Francisco Bay Area, where they can watch the game  and, perhaps, their own Doritos Super Bowl ad from a private suite. Only when the ad airs will the three finalists learn which one is the big winner.
As the 10 year run of the Crash the Super Bowl competition ends, the questions is what will replace it. "Planning is most definitely underway," says Klein, who suggests consumers will, of course, continue to play a role in shaping the brand.  "We will look for a way to meaningfully crash pop culture. A good idea can come from anywhere."

Super Bowl 50 will take place on February 7, 2016, in Santa Clara, at the Levi's Stadium. The stadium is the home of the home of the San Francisco 49ers. Super Bowl 50 will be topping all previous Super Bowl's because of the anniversary. Marketers are flocking to Super Bowl 50 and it will be a huge TV event.

The Super Bowl 50 Halftime Show will be performed by Coldplay. The British band is expected to bring on several guest performers.

CBS is broadcasting the Super Bowl 50. The Super Bowl 2016 game will be preceded by a weeklong series of public events held throughout the Bay Area. The Super Bowl City fan village, the NFL Experience and the Media Center will be hosted in San Francisco.
The Super Bowl 50 will get a week long treatment on CBS involving specials and Late Night take overs.
