Super Bowl to show new Transformers trailer

Thursday, January 16, 2014

Super Bowl ads are mixed with movie trailers, and for this year’s big game, drum roll... Transformers: Age of Extinction trailer will be shown.

This is one of the most anticipated movies in 2014 and it will be shown this summer. The movies trailer will be first shown during the big game this February 2 at the MetLife Stadium East Rutherford, New Jersey. There are no trailers of the movie shown anywhere yet. The film will be spending $4 million to show a 30-second trailer during the game.

Steven Spielberg is still the producer of the film, while Michael Bay is still the director. Reports are read that Bay will be taking the movie seriously, compared to the earlier instalments of the franchise, which disappointed fans criticized as goofy. There are even reports where Bay was quoted saying that the new instalment will be “less goofy” compared to the first three. But giant fighting robots adapted from a cartoon series can easily be associated with goofiness, which is perfectly normal for most fans. Bay said he will keep this new Transformers movie “slick.”

Reports are coming in that this new instalment is a reboot to the first three movies of the franchise, however, this fact is still needed more elaboration. People will probably see Mark Wahlberg, Dinobots, and Optimus Prime in the new Transformers trailer, which will be shown in the Super Bowl XLVIII.

Overview of the plot

According to reports the story has Mark Wahlberg lays the character of an inventor named Cade Yeager, who discovered a buried Transformer after the destruction that happened in Chicago during the Transformers: Dark of the Moon. Opposite to what most fans expected, Mark Wahlberg didn’t play a character named Flynn Vincent. Optimus Primen (voiced by Peter Cullen) will be returning to the franchise along with the much anticipated Dinobots.

Mark Wahlberg’s co-actors in this movie include Nicola Peltz from the movie, Bates Motel who will play the inventor’s daughter, along with Jack Reynor from the Delivery Man who will play her boyfriend. The human villain will be played by Kesley Grammar from The Expendables 3 and Stanley Tucci from The Hunger Games: Catching Fire will take up the role of a geologist along with Sophia Myles who will play the role of his assistant. Li Bingbing from Resident Evil: Retribution will play the role of the CEO of the Chinese Transformers.

The characters of the film suggest that the major human drama in the plot will be the father-daughter relationship of Wahlberg and Peltz’s characters. While fans can be sure there will be explosive CGI effects of their favourite Transformers in action.

Production: Bay confirms end of shooting

Information from MichaelBay.com shows that the director himself has confirmed that the shooting of the film is done along with its principal photography and the trailer will be shown during Super Bowl XLVIII. In Bay’s website, the director shun off the movie’s many haters. He said it’s a drag to talk to reporters on the set of the movie because they twist his words into how they want it too look like, thus the skewed Internet truth. He said he did not apologize for any transformers movie and that he did not say the prior movies were shot less cool than this new one. He said he shot the first films in generic suburbia to give it a feel that it could happen to anyone’s backyard.

In Bay’s post, he let fans know that they have completed their five and a half month film shoot and that they just came back after shooting for a month in China. He said he and his entire crew had a fantastic experience shooting in China. He also posed that they are working hard in cutting the movie at present. He also announced that the trailer will come out during the Super Bowl on Feb2 with a teaser after that. Finally, he said in his post that he is very excited about the movie.

What to expect from Transformers 4

With all the excitement brewing for the Super Bowl XLVIII, fans are also looking forward for the Transformers 4 movie which will be released summer of 2014. According to reports, the new movie is not just the fourth instalment of the Hasbro sci-fi series adaptation, but it will somehow be a soft reboot to clear the first three films to pave a way for another director who will assume the role for of Bay for the following Transformers movies.

Optimus Prime will return, but he will have a brand new look. The tweaked version of the Autobots’ leader was unveiled through a toy during the Comic Con in New York in 2013. Another image of the Optimus Prime’s new look can be seen on the cover of Empire Magazine.

If you can recall the third instalment of the franchise, Dark of the Moon, Bay went to the next level by using the 3D technology to showcase the already spectacular giant robot battles. However, the third instalment’s script lacks the “heart” of the story, which is the human drama. Ehren Kruger wrote the script, he also wrote the script for the fourth instalment “Age of Extinction,” which trailer will be shown on Super Bowl XLVIII on Feb 2. The second film, Revenge of the Fallen even has a better script that makes it reasonable for human beings to be included in the Autobots Decepticon war.

Perhaps the new movie will have the “heart” in the story line by including human drama, especially with Wahlberg and Peltz’s characters being father and daughter. One thing is for sure though, there will definitely be spectacular CGI effects and action sequences that will keep fans hanging at the edge of their seats. To reduce speculations and to have more glimpse of the new Transformers instalment, it would be best to watch the trailer during the big game on Feb 2. The trailer may not be the highlight, but it is definitely one of the biggest features for the Super Bowl XLVIII.
