Volkswagen Super Bowl 2013 Ad Has its Work Cut Out

Wednesday, December 19, 2012

Volkswagen ruled the Super Bowl car ads the last two years. In 2011 the pint-sized Darth Vader was a mega hit. Last year the VW Dogs Strike Back Ad had also a Star Wars theme and worked well, but did not beat the Darth Vader kid.

Volkswagen officially announced yesterday that they will run a 60 second Super Bowl ad during the Super Bowl 2013 broadcast.
This will be the fourth consecutive year as Super Bowl advertiser for Volkswagen.

"After a record-setting 2012, Volkswagen looks to the Big Game as an opportunity to sustain momentum in the year ahead,” said Tim Mahoney, Chief Product and Marketing Officer, Volkswagen of America, Inc. “We are excited to build upon our storytelling legacy during one of TV’s most watched events.”

Volkswagen’s 2013 Super Bowl commercial and digital/social media support will build on the brand’s tradition of sharing simple, human stories and align with its Why VW brand campaign and social media storytelling platform, which allows owners and fans to share their individual Volkswagen experiences with the world.

The Super Bowl 2013 will take place on Sunday, February 3, 2013 in New Orleans. Super Bowl Ads for Geeks will again offer full coverage about the Super Bowl Ads ahead and during the Super Bowl XLVII. The first big news is that Kate Upton will star in the Mercedes Super Bowl 2013 Ad.
