Skechers Super Bowl 2012 Ad has Greyhounds instead of Kim Kardashian

Tuesday, January 10, 2012

The Skechers Super Bowl 2011 ad was steaming hot featuring Kim Kardashian. This year Skechers features a tiny dog and a pack of Greyhound racing dogs to promote GOrun shoes in the Skechers Super Bowl 2012 ad.

USA Today reports that Skechers actually got some heat from animal activists to feature Greyhounds from the Tucson Greyhound Park. They claim that the dogs were mistreated. This reminds me of the whole controversy around the CareerBuilder Super Bowl 2011 ad that had chimpanzees in it.

Such a controversy ahead of the airing of a Super Bowl ad is actually not that bad for the advertiser. It generates buzz - it does not matter if it is negative.

Update: 02/03/12:
The full Skechers Super Bowl 2012 Ad has been released online. Watch it now.

The Skechers Super Bowl 2012 ad's story line has a tiny dog wearing GOrun shoes racing a pack of Greyhounds. As a "bonus" Mark Cuban, owner of the Dallas Mavericks has a cameo in the Skechers Super Bowl Ad. It will be hard to beat the attention Kim Kardashian generated for Skechers last year. I just hope the Skechers Super Bowl 2012 commercial is funny.
